Kvaløya Ski Marathon
march 14th 2026 in Tromsø.
The cross country race will be in classic style. Everyone finishes at Straumsbukta School, with bus transport available back to Storelva (bus must be booked).
Race Program:
- 10:30 – 11:00 AM: Free start from Håkøybotn Bygdehus (Community hall)
- 11:00 AM:Mass start for 42 km at Sandnessund Cemetery, about 2.5 km north of Sandnessund Bridge, marked from road 863 towards Finnvika. Seeded runners at the front.
- 11:00 AM:Mass start for 21 km at Storelva Ski Stadium; recreational and competitive classes. Recreational participants start at the back of the mass start.
- 11:30 AM:Mass start for mini marathon in Straumsbukta.
REGISTRATION
Early bird registration deadline is Sunday, March 1st at 11:59 PM. After this, all registration fees (except for ages 0-12) increase by NOK 100.
42 KM – Marathon:
Competitive classes for seniors from 21 years.
21 KM – Half Marathon:
Competitive classes: recruits 13-14 and 15-16 years, and juniors 17-18 and 19-20 years.
NEW FROM 2026: Competitive class also for seniors from 21 years in the half marathon. No age-specific classes, only Women and Men.
Recreational 21 km from Storelva is suitable for everyone, including children under 13 – preferably accompanied by adults.
Recreational without timing can start between 10:00 and 10:30, or at the mass start at 11:00.
12 KM:
NEW FROM 2026: New recreational class 12 km, without timing. Start from Håkøybotn Community House at the drink station. Family-friendly route via Finnheia food station to Straumsbukta.
Mini Marathon:
We are organizing a Mini Marathon with start and finish in Straumsbukta. Mass start at 11:30 AM.
License:
All runners from 13 years must have a valid license/ski insurance. According to NSF’s regulations, this is the responsibility of the participant/guardian. Participants who do not have an annual license must pay a one-time license fee. Those who do not have an annual license purchase a license at the same time as registration. NOTE! The license provides good insurance in case of injuries during the race.
